Our Commitment

We believe no one should be turned away due to their circumstances. Our team is dedicated to connecting individuals and families with the treatment, housing, and resources they need—supporting their journey toward recovery, stability, and self-sufficiency.

About Agape

Our Mission

To provide comprehensive, affordable, and culturally sensitive outpatient treatment and housing programs that meet the innermost needs of its participants, their families, and community.

Our Story

Agape has been a cornerstone of healing and hope in Kitsap County since 1985. Founded as an affordable outpatient substance use treatment program, Agape was built on the belief that recovery should be accessible—regardless of their circumstances. Over the years, our commitment to walking alongside individuals during recovery  has led to the growth of a comprehensive network of services, meeting people wherever they are and supporting them every step of the way.

Growing with Our Community

In 1986, we expanded our mission to include housing, opening shelter services for homeless, chemically dependent men. This marked the beginning of a broader vision—one that recognized that true recovery is deeply connected to stability, housing, and support.

That vision came to life in 1989 with the opening of the Koinonia Inn Transitional Housing Program in Port Orchard. Affectionately known as "the KI," this program offers a safe haven for pregnant and parenting women and their children. A year later, we began free, on-site licensed childcare at the KI. These services help eliminate barriers for women in treatment, ensuring they can focus on healing while their children are cared for in a nurturing environment.

As our impact deepened, we launched the Sisyphus II Permanent Housing Program in 1995. This initiative provides long-term, affordable housing for low-income, homeless individuals—offering a stable foundation upon which to rebuild their lives.

In 2008, Agape sponsored the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP),  bringing this much needed program to Kitsap County. This life-changing service helps pregnant and parenting women gain access to substance use treatment services, while building the life skills needed to thrive in recovery and parenting.

Most recently, in 2020, we partnered with Peninsula Community Health Services to integrate substance use and mental health treatment directly at our Bremerton site. This collaboration has positioned Agape as one of the first in the region to offer this holistic, co-located model of care.
